2/9/2024 0 Comments Elac debut b5 2 specsThe low end sounds a little lean.let's say under 100 Hz.and left me wanting to reach for tone control or add a sub. The mids and highs, along with mid and upper bass, are well balanced with the 530's. The 530's, however, sound rolled off on the bottom by comparison. They are a little rolled off on top (regardless of where you position them), which can give the impression of bloated bass (it's definitely a "warm" speaker) but the bass and mids are nicely balanced. The Elacs do not suffer an imbalance of bass when moved away from a wall boundary. Thats it, no more testing !!! I have my 3 keeper pairs I need (no my wife is NOT getting my JBL's). But a pair and buy a pair of JAMO's and you tell ME which you would return. Like the crossovers were confused is the only way I can describe it. Highs to me felyt fatiguing, bass nothing to write home about and between Bass, Mid and highs, something just didnt seem balanced. I just felt they were "cheap speaker" sound. The loser and return - Sony SSCS5 - $228.00 - sorry for those who love them. But if you bought them and did not compare, you would love them anyway. So listening in a comparison mode what do you say to yourself - BASS> Clarity in mid and highs is awesome but hey, when something JUMPS out at you like that, you cant rate them higher than a better balanced speaker. Bass heavy, Now for some that may not be a negative but to match others, I do have to turn bass down quite a few notches. Plus the looks of them are pretty cool so besides great sound, the speaker itself is nice to look at EXCEPT take away 1 point for the ugly grey covers.which only hide the beauty so unless you NEED them on, leave them off.ģrd place (sigh) Elac Debut 6.2 - Pretty much on Sale at $299 - Love these and so does my wife but they get beat out for one reason. BOth are really great but you will see why I have the extra star to the JAMO's in a moment. No way I should be rating them better than $300 Elacs but you know, they edged them out by a hair. Why the surprise ? because no way should these sound as good as they do at 139. No doubts,Ĭoming in at second - surprise surprise - JAMO S803 at $139 on Amazon. It has great seperation and it was instant love ! But I did do A - B testing on the same tracks using speakers A and Speakers B inputs. Very clear balanced bass, mid and highs and if like me, you worried about a horn tweeter, dont. At 239.00, its a no brainer because the sound is incredible. Folks retail on these is 599 and generally sell in the 300 to 400 range. Bookshelf speakers that will impress you (or depress you depending)Ĭlear WInner - JBL Studio 530 at $239 on sale direct from JBL. I need to rearrange my living room to position this a bit better, I will do it when the summer comes.Okay, after my intensive listening we have a range - 4 good reviewed speakes - 1 clear winner, 1 clear loser and 2 you cant go wrong. ill keep it as a stereo setup for as much as I can! Watching movies and having the speakers connected to the tv it's a joy.bass goes so low and rumbles, very good bass quality.Īll in all, it's detailed, tight, and has tons of bass, and fullness, and loud, a bit I overkill, I'm so happy with the setup I have, I'm over the moon, and. I have to turn the bass almost all the way down as well when listening to music, they produce bass so effortlessly. I couldn't turn the volume more than around 12 a clock because I'm not joking, it goes so loud and I did not want my neighbors at my door, it will not be fair for me to do it so I can't talk about it after that point. The sound coming out of them is amazing, detailed, punchy, and very balanced. Click to expand.Hi again and Happy New to Everyone!!Īs I stated in my first post I have a small living room 5m X 4m and the Elac b5 speakers are so loud that I need to keep the volume at around 10 a clock point.
